Rigging is a beautiful thing from God!

I am so happy with this result, but I still having little problems with skinning, such as the eyes. I don't know how to fix them. Suggestions?  At least one scene of my animation is guaranteed! =D

Game Over and Enemies

Getting pretty close to finally finishing this beast up here. To get the interface components complete, there is finally a game over screen for when you inevitably lose. It plays some nice little music and then sends you back to the start screen.

This included a short script as well which the tutorial had me write, just like the other GUI objects.

There are now other dangers as well, besides just falling off the side like a moron. One of which is these blue lazorz. They hurt you if you don't go through them at the right moment, so it's kind of reminiscent of those spikey jaw doors on the old Prince of Persia. Good times.

There are also robot guards hanging about that just sort of sit idly until you come upon them. Then they activate and try to punch your face.

If you punch their face first though they explode in a blue shower of sparkly things and drop a couple things, either fuel cells or health packs. They also respawn after you leave the area, so don't think they're dead forever.

Finally I have finished!

Well, I have some troubles with the UVs, but after a week I can figure out how the best to do it. Unfold function helps me a lot. Now I post three of my renders, since in class we couldn't see them. I intend to make hair pull out, but I no have idea how to start this.

I'm gonna call her Miss Lumpy

I love that she's got massive worms living in her collar bone. Their names are Fred and Sue, they have many smaller children whom I have yet to label. Buuuuuut, she's done! Lit and Rendered. If you look close you can see her parents in her face, Mr. Jackson and Ms. Jolie. yeah... let's say I did it on purpose shall we? :)

the final looks

hi

Ketchup

Time to play catch up. There is quite I bit I've been able to add since I last posted, over the past couple weeks. My bad in letting it pile up without actually posting anything.

The first that can be noticed in the screens is the functionality has been added to the jump pads. In essence, run onto them, and they launch you up into the air. Without them, the level wouldn't be entirely navigable.

Next, the items have collision detection and can be picked up now. They include the fuel canisters than Lerpz needs in order to fill his ship and escape, as well as the health pickups to restore his poor little life.

A small detail, the animation was added to the force field encompassing his captured ship. It obviously doesn't show in the screen, but it animates a little diagonally, which is fun.

You may also notice that the heads up display is visible and functions correctly. This was the beginning of the section on interface, and included his lives, health, and how many canisters he still has to gather. I found the pie sort of interface on his life to be an interesting choice.

The main menu was the last part of the interface that still had to be added. It constituted making an entirely new scene, which is only visible until the Play option is chosen. A small loading box is also shown until the game scene loads. Creating the menu was built purely in the script editor, in Javascript. This was naturally wicked awesome as I have been hoping to not have every script finished and spoonfed. The last screen shows the code and how it creates the menu based on where the user resides. Pretty basic stuff, but still cool.

Flyrod Progress

Here's my progress. Though it looks pretty much the same since last time, I have definitely changed a lot and improved it. I am just working on finishing building then I will try out my textures.

Almost looks like a character!

Progress is coming along!

Thing that I am having the most problems with now is the contours/geometry of the face, especially the lips. I can get them to look fine from one way or the other, but not both!

Next to decided what the heck to do about ears... do I dare? Seeing as I am crazy, I probably will. I hope to get all the other modeling done tonight... Fingers crossed for starting UVs tomorrow!

Also, has anyone else ran into this
glitch that "deletes" faces when smoothing? Makes for a very awkward picture...
hi
so this shows just messing around with phong material.

Death and Rebirth

My character can die! Yay! He also respawns. The part of the tutorial I went through included creating a fallout catcher, to figure out if Lerpz, or anything else for that matter, falls off the game. It then destroys or repositions them correctly.

I also created respawn points, which are activated when cute little Lerpz walks next to them. One is activated at a time and provides him with a place to be reincarnated. He loses a life each time though, so he's not quite invincible.

Hippo Model

I have finished blocking my hippo out and now I am working on rounding it out.

Fan Progress

Working on UVs an finishing modeling. Need to add hinges to animate.

Hippo has some curves!

I have been able to add some more details, and make my hippo have some nice curves to his backside. I also got his ear up and tooth. The eye process seems daunting, because I have some eye lids that are a little complicated for me. Over all he's coming along!

HE HAS A HEAD!

Dino is taking shape quite nicely. I added his stubby fingers, spikes, and I am now working on his eyes. He still has no mouth. Perhaps he will lose some weight since he cant eat...

got rid of all the engons

well the bottle and handle are complete

hi

here it the finished rounded object. Below is the solution to making my hangle inside this connect to the object. I had to extrude the shapes around it and then connect the dots from the extrude shapes.

Sep. 27

Yay! update. I did manage to kill off my triangles... now all that's left is that darn n-gon.

The hope is the last to die

Here is what I made so far. I hope finish in time.
